SUBWAY STATION REDESIGN

The subway station redesign project challenges students to re-imagine an exterior of a subway entry, inspired by historic/political narratives in connection to a neighbourhood in New York City. My neighbourhood was Carnegie Hill, an area on the Upper East Side that maintains a high class status of wealth and prosperity. I thoroughly researched and investigated the neighbourhood to find inspirations for the re-design of 96th street station, highlighting unique aspects through architecture. I used Adobe Illustrator as the program for the project, utilising skills learned from previous projects and discovering new methods to approach the task. The process of this project is different than others before, since I did not have a specific plan I wanted to follow. Instead, I had inspirations and ideas where I constantly experimented with the platform and different tools.
