TORMENT
SIZE: 185 cm X 110 cm
MEDIUM: Digital Art, Plaster
DESCRIPTION: This artwork features a shoe made from plaster, a material often seen in a cast for broken bones. This connects to the background pattern, an abstract piece that highlights the negative effects of the fashion industry. This piece addresses how societal standards cause mental and physical pain, controlling the lives of millions of people. I chose to use my personal MRI scans to highlight how I am often corrupted by the fashion industry, since I have always been told "beauty is pain", where expectations of maintaining beauty standards and wearing painful clothing have overpowered me before.

Inspiration
Ideas and brainstorming
Process using plaster. I decided to move away from my initial design and maintain the plaster look as it creates references to broken bone casts that I can utilise to convey my deeper message.
Background creation. I also decided that the piece needed more elements, such as a background. My personal MRI and Bone scans were distorted to allow the audience to make connections themselves.
